Yesterday, February 3rd was the 2011 Chinese New Year, and we had a traditional Chinese New Year dinner. Well, almost, the traditional dish that we have during the new year is supposed to be a vegetarian dish. I’m not sure why, but that’s just how its always been. However, this year I had a little surprise, if you take a look at the picture, there’s a bit of roast pork under all the mushrooms and tofu. So much for traditions. There were other dishes with what can be roughly translated as “wealth vegetable”, which is a sort of seaweed that look like hair, but this was the only dish that broke tradition with a bit of roast pork.
